LAMP CHILE organizes the first #LAMPseminar, thanks for coming!

LAMP CHILE, our oldest subsidiary, finally decided to organise a seminar in which light was the main theme. Santiago de Chile was able to see that lighting is everything to our company. We would like to thank the 120 professionals who attended!

#LAMPseminar took place on 9 and 10 October in the GAM (Gabriela Mistral Cultural Centre), the most important contemporary art centre in Santiago. The seminar became a meeting point for lighting designers, architects, artists, students and light lovers.

Wednesday 8 October
The day before the seminar started, a small number of clients, who had come to Santiago specially for the seminar from different parts of the globe, had the chance to discover LAMP CHILE's production plant first-hand.

Thursday 9 October
The seminar, which was basically aimed at professionals, included talks such as ‘Strategies for more sustainable urban lighting' by Jose Cardona, ‘Barcelona Lighting Master Plan' by Maria Güell, ‘Mapocho 42K Project' by Sandra Iturriaga and Douglas Leonard, and ‘Zócalo Parque Metropolitano Project' by Matias López and Antonia Peón. The programme was closed by Paulina Villalobos who presented NOCHE ZERO; Xavi Fernández, LAMP's R&D Director, who talked about how to design LED luminaires; and Matías López, who presented the DIA association.

The closing ceremony included two activities that captivated the audience. First, #LAMPbunker, which we brought over as it was after Light+Building in order to carry on filling it with more creative ideas, was a fun and innovative experience. Our #LAMPbunker, designed by Travesías de Luz, completed its second stage successfully. Now we're taking back to Barcelona, where all the ideas will coexist: the ideas from Frankfurt, where cold light was the main feature; from Santiago, where we experimented with ultraviolet light and fluorescent colours; and the new ideas that will be suggested at the Lamp Awards next June :)

Meanwhile, attendees were able to taste a fusion of Chilean and Catalan cuisine, in an activity devised by Vicenç Mulet. The dishes were served in original backlit structures created with FIL profiles by LAMP. Cava teardrops with scallop carpaccio and garland chrysanthemum flowers was one of the favourite dishes!

Friday 10 October
The second day of #LAMPseminar was aimed at students. Xavi Fernández, LAMP's R&D Director, started off with a technical presentation of the product for the students. Then, Marian Álvaro from Travesías de Luz showed them the product in a more entertaining way in the ‘Shadows Factory' workshop. They were given a ‘Shadows machine', which is a box with a LED, a reflector, wires and gloves, to experiment creating light and shadows with pieces of card, colour filters, scissors and felt-tip pens. To close this successful activity, the Chilean students were also able to include their ideas in the #LAMPbunker before bringing it back to Spain.

We hope that all the attendees at #LAMPseminar were able to learn, share, have a good time, and gained a better understanding of what LAMP CHILE is all about. We hope to see you soon!
