LAMP releases its "Carbon Footprint Calculation Report 2022"

Jun 6 2023

  • The report calculates the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the company's different activities, assesses the results of ongoing sustainable initiatives, and proposes various measures for improvement to reduce the company's carbon footprint.

  • The implementation of the proposed improvement plan will result in a potential reduction of GHG emissions equivalent to more than 100 tonnes of CO₂ over a period of 4 years, by means of a 100% reduction of emissions in Scope 1 and 2, and 50% in Scope 3, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2025.

We have just released the results of the "Carbon Footprint 2022" report, which calculates the greenhouse gas emissions caused by the company's business activities. This is not merely limited to the production of luminaires, but also includes other services and operations, from the type of vehicles used, to the facilities' energy consumption, and the credentials of the suppliers we work with.

In order to implement the measures in LAMP's sustainability plan, guided by our Worktitude For Life strategic line, it is imperative to be acutely aware of this data in order to be able to optimise all the processes involved in the company's business operations. The aim is to minimise the impact of our business on both the planet and human beings as much as possible, thus reaffirming LAMP's commitment to the fulfilment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

LAMP's carbon footprint sustainability report

LAMP has incorporated the study that refers to its carbon footprint in 2022 into its sustainability reports, i.e. the amount of GHGs released into the atmosphere directly or indirectly during that time as a result of its business activity. This information provides a snapshot of the company's performance -where it has improved and where it still needs to improve- as well as specific metrics to help make better decisions on how to reduce these GHG emissions that contribute to rising global temperatures and climate change.

The report has been compiled by CECOT Energia, an independent consultancy supported by the Institut Català d'Energia, that advises companies on their energy transition. The results and conclusions, obtained by applying the UNE-ISO 14069 and ISO 14064-1 methodologies, are available on the LAMP website in Spanish, English and French.

This study includes an inventory of the levels of GHG emissions according to various sources and assesses the measures already implemented at LAMP, such as the progressive replacement of its transport fleet with electric or hybrid vehicles, and the introduction of photovoltaic energy in early 2022.

A positive assessment of the results and future improvement measures

Having analysed the current data, the study acknowledges that LAMP's sustainability performance indicators are good, but, at the same time, the report proposes a number of improvement measures, which, over the next 4 years, will help to prevent the emission of the equivalent of 102.04 tonnes of CO.

The targets we have set ourselves are to achieve a 100% reduction in our Scope 1 and 2 emissions, a 50% reduction in our Scope 3 emissions, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025 i.e. offsetting the emissions that we are unable to eliminate by 2025.

Both LAMP's current sustainability plan and future initiatives to reduce or offset GHG emissions will effectively address at least 7 of the 17 SDGs to be achieved by 2030, especially those related to caring for the planet and promoting well-being.
