Lamp Lighting Solutions Awards 2015 already have winners!

Jun 12 2015

On June 11th, the 6th edition of the Lamp Lighting Solutions Awards 2015 ceremony was held at Tibidabo Amusement Park, Barcelona.

The event, lead by Mr. Ignasi Cusidó, CEO of Lamp Lighting, and conducted by the TV and radio presenter Òscar Dalmau, also included the "Inspired by light" lecture given by Sharon Stammers and Martin Lupton from Light Collective. The act's closing was held by the prestigious lighting designer and president of the jury, Mark Major. Furthermore, the event counted on very special collaborators, the students of "Màster in Lighting Design. Disseny d'Il·luminació Arquitectònica", that surprised everyone with their lighting installation.

The gala was attended by 500 professionals of the lighting sector, who didn't want to miss the prize-giving event of these awards which are already amongst the most important ones in the international lighting calendar. They could enjoy the best views of Barcelona, while having a cocktail and listening to live music with the musicians from the Piano Bar. It was a really fun event in which the attendees could also go on the carousel or the ferris wheel.

The present edition, the 6th since the contest started on 2008, has registered an internationalization record of 70%, increasing 9% over the last edition. 598 projects have been submitted from 54 countries.

The 2015 Lamp Lighting Solutions Awards have been endowed with a total of €26,000 distributed into four categories: Architectural Outdoor Lighting, Indoor Lighting, Urban and Landscape Lighting, and Students Proposals. The winners in the different categories of the Lamp Lighting Solutions Awards ‘15 were:

With a prize of €8,000, the judges have decided to give the 2015 Lamp Lighting Award for ARCHITECTURAL OUTDOOR LIGHTING to LCB - LE CHAI BALLANDE, in France, by Yon Anton Olano, Agence d'architecture BAGGIO-PIECHAUD and A26 architecture, because "this project described how lighting has the power to transform an environment, giving an industrial building real beauty through colour and control".

On the other hand, in the same category, the jury decided to recognize with a special mention the project FULL MOON, in Spain, by Eduard Callís and Guillem Moliner, for "conveying the change in atmosphere and space through a simple idea delivered with both love and humour".

"LIFE OF LIGHT" RECOGNITION AND "IYL2015" SPECIAL MENTION

Due to the International Year of Light 2015, the Lamp Lighting Solutions Awards gave this year the "LIFE OF LIGHT" recognition to a professional for a life dedicated to light. Proposed by Master DIA, the judges felt this special award had to be given to MS AGNETA AND MR JAN EJHED, "two people who have given their entire professional lives to the promotion of lighting education and the lighting profession. They have not only taught many generations of students the skills they needed at a vital time for the development of lighting design but have also acted as an inspiration to many fellow lighting designers. They have been ambassadors for light, continuously and generously devoting their lives to the betterment of lighting design. They are also the perfect expression of a true working partnership!"

On the other hand, there was a project that the jury thought it deserved a special mention out of the 4 categories. The temporary urban project BETWEEN SILENCE AND LIGHT, in Spain, by reMM, Michela Mezzavilla and Roberto Eleuteri, was recognized with the special mention INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF LIGHT for "the simple and poetic manner in which it used light and darkness to bring people together to commemorate a tragic event".

Lamp Lighting has edited the book Lighting Concepts '15 for the occasion. It includes the work of the contest's finalists and winners, as well as the recognitions "LIFE OF LIGHT" and "INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF LIGHT". If you want one, please write to [email protected].
