Once again we are Lighting Detectives with TNT in Mexico

Nov 12 2015 00:10:00

The team of Lighting Detectives, led by lighting designer Kaoru Mende, was back to work, and after taking part in Bangkok and Madrid, we didn't want to miss it!

Where? This time the TNT event has taken place from 18 to 22 November in Mexico, with a detective of honour, Mexican lighting designer Gustavo Avilés, as well as Reiko Kaneko, Charles Stone, Jan Ejhed, Paulina Villalobos and many other lighting detectives, who have traced ‘villains' and find ‘heroes' for a few days. Their mission: to identify which lighting systems in the city can be improved and which are well executed.

Apart from this workshop, there has been time for reflection too. In the closing ceremony, Kaoru Mende said that "we should be called shadow designers, not lighting designers ", Reiko Kaneko added that "the beauty of the city is not because of the lighting", and Jan Ejhed recalled that "the idea is to attract people and lighting, not to push away people from lighting". Finally, a proud Gustavo Avilés concluded that "we are creating a very fertile seed of young students, not only in age, but also in open-minded ideas, that will probably give a plus in the heritage cultural decisions, both in Mexico City and our country".

Once again, it's been a great experience. See you next time!
